  5. Herman ΓÇ£BabeΓÇ¥ Ruth was born in
  6. 1895. He started his career as a
  7. pitcher and outfielder for the Boston
  8. Braves in 1914. Later that year, he
  9. joined the Boston Red Sox which
  10. went on to defeat the Chicago Cubs
  11. in the World Series of 1918.
  12.        But his career truly took off when
  13. he moved to the New York Yankees
  14. in 1920. In the following year, he hit
  15. 59 home runs and had audiences
  16. flock to his games in such numbers
  17. that the new Yankee stadium was
  18. dubbed ΓÇ£The House that Ruth BuiltΓÇ¥.
  19. 1927 was the greatest year of all,
  20. when he set the famous record of 60
  21. home runs in one 154-game season.
  22.        Babe Ruth went on to play in 10
  23. World Series and hit a career total of
  24. 714 home runs, a record unbroken
  25. until 1974.  He died in 1948.
